With Galaxy Z Fold7 receiving the highest preorders ever for the Z Fold lineup, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 continue to receive unprecedented consumer demand one week since launch

Samsung pioneered the foldable smartphone category more than six years ago, and now, in its seventh generation, is raising the bar on what a smartphone can do. Since last week’s general availability, momentum for both devices remain strong, with orders continuing to outpace the previous generation by more than 25%. Further, Galaxy Z Fold7 is out pacing its previous model by nearly 50% since availability opened on July 25.

“Foldables have reached an inflection point as they are becoming a mainstream choice for users,” said Drew Blackard, Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Management at Samsung Electronics America. “Now on our seventh generation, we’ve addressed consumer feedback year after year and have arrived at the kind of experience you can’t get on any other device. When people go hands-on with a Z series device, they’re hooked — and now it’s all coming together with record-breaking numbers.”

As interest in Z series foldables continues to grow, user trends are shifting — mainly their color and style preferences. While black has historically been the preferred choice of Z Fold users, Blue Shadow made up nearly half of Z Fold7 pre-orders. Square Enix announced that Octopath Traveler 0, a new entry in the Octopath series, will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC on December 4. The new RPG takes story and gameplay elements from the smartphone game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, retooled into a new standalone, offline single-player title, giving fans a new way to experience the narrative. Preorders for the game are available now, and there are multiple versions up for grabs–including a $50 standard edition you can grab at Amazon and Best Buy. There’s also a $70 Digital Deluxe Edition and a massive $230 Collector’s Edition available exclusively through Square Enix’s online store. All three editions also include preorder bonuses for securing your copy ahead of time. Check out full details on all versions of the game below.

This is the base version of Octopath Traveler 0. It includes the full base game, plus the Travel Provisions Pack if you preorder. Physical preorders are available for $50 at Amazon and Best Buy. Digital preorders are also available.

While you can preorder the Octopath Traveler physical standard edition for PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch, it’s worth noting that the Switch 2 physical version is yet another Game-Key Card release. That means none of the actual game data is included on the cartridge, which instead works as physical DRM that lets you download and play the digital version of the game to your Switch 2. That said, the other three platforms all include the full game data on their physical media. The Switch 2 can play Switch 1 games, so you can purchase the Switch version of Octopath Traveler 0 if you want the game on cartridge. However, Square Enix is not offering an upgrade path for the Switch 1 version–so if you want the Switch 2 version with better performance and visual fidelity, you’re stuck with the Game-Key Card or digital versions of the game.

Those who prefer digital games can also grab the $60 Octopath Traveler 0 Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes everything from the base game, plus a bonus pack of helpful items and–for most consoles–a digital art book. Note that the digital art book is not included in the PS4 Digital Deluxe Edition.

Octopath Traveller 0 is the third game in the Octopath Traveler series, and as the 0 in the title implies, it’s positioned as the earliest story in the series’s in-universe chronology. Octopath Traveler 0 also introduces a new town-building system where players rebuild their home village after it’s destroyed in the opening of the story.

Octopath Traveler 0 isn’t the only big new game coming soon from Square Enix. Octopath Traveler 0 was also revealed alongside a new HD-2D action RPG, Elliot: The Millennium Tales, during the July 31 Nintendo Partner Showcase. While it’s not available for preorder yet, players can grab a demo if they want to check out the new adventure.

In an interview with Famitsu held at Anime Expo 2025, the game’s writer Ryukishi07 explained that he looked into setting the game in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture.

Shizuoka literally translates to Quiet Hill or Silent Hill, and Ryukishi07 felt that this would have made it an ideal setting for the first Silent Hill game to be set in Japan.

However, he soon realised that because Mount Fuji is partly located in Shizuoka Prefecture, and because the enormous stratovolcano dominates the landscape of the prefecture, it didn’t fit with the feel of the game.

“When creating the story, we first wanted all the staff to have a common understanding of where the game was set,” Ryukishi explained (via machine translation). “To achieve this, we used real locations as the basis for our imagery.”

“In fact, since this is Silent Hill, we actually visited Shizuoka Prefecture as a potential location,” he laughed. “However, when we actually went there, we felt that the presence of Mount Fuji as seen from Shizuoka was too overbearing and it didn’t seem suitable for a Silent Hill setting.

“Mount Fuji looms over the entire area, so its presence would overwhelm the foggy atmosphere of the work. After visiting several other locations, I felt that the grid-like townscape of Kanayama was an interesting shape, so I suggested that.”
